Your privacy and the security of customer information are very
important to us and we are committed to protecting you. We
therefore want to make it clear how your customer information is
used. |
| |
|
| |
 |
Once you have contacted Black Box Video to make a
purchase, request a catalogue, or make any enquiries - your name
and contact details are included on our Customer Database. This
is to ensure our service to you is quick and efficient. |
 |
Black Box Video will never pass on your contact
details to any other personal or company without first seeking
your permission, but only then if we feel that this would be
appropriate and beneficial to you. |
 |
Black Box Video will never pass on, or sell, your
contact details to any mail distributors, purchasers of
databases or market research companies. |
 |
There are, however, three exceptions to the above
promises and these are:
 |
if you are a Hire Company who has purchased our
units for the purpose of hiring them out to freelancers - if
we receive an enquiry as to which Hire Companies handle our
products, we may then pass on your contact details if you
are in the area specified |
 |
if you have requested a link to your own website
on the Black Box Video website and we receive an enquiry
about your from a colleague within the Broadcast industry |
 |
in the the unlikely event that we are required to
disclose your customer information by a court order, or to
comply with other legal requirements; in this event we
will use all reasonable endeavours to notify you before we
do so, unless we are legally restricted from doing so |
|
 |
Please note that Black Box Video's website
does not use "cookies" and therefore we do not store,
capture or collect any information about you when you visit our
website, but merely logs the user's IP address for the purpose
of providing us with weblog data so that we can see which pages
receive the most visits and are therefore of the most interest. |

This Privacy Statement only
covers this Black Box Video website; other links within
this site to other websites are not covered by this policy.
We would encourage our users to be aware when they leave our

Black Box Video has written this Privacy Statement without the
use of lawyers. This Privacy Statement is based on the
regulations described in the
"Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with
regard to the processing of personal data and on the free
movement of such data"
which you can read in full on the

We are committed to avoiding credit card fraud, both against Black
Box Video and against our customers.
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
 |
To this end, our credit card terminal at present
requires certain information about your card and we must
therefore ask you for the following:
 |
credit card number |
 |
expiry date |
 |
how your name appears on the card |
 |
the name of the issuing Bank |
 |
the card's security number (the last three digits of
the number on the back of the card, just above your
signature |
 |
the postcode for the address to which the card is
registered |
 |
the house or building number for the address to which
the card is registered |
|
 |
In the case of Maestro or Delta cards, we must also ask
you for:
 |
the start date |
 |
the issue number |
|
 |
Your credit card details will NOT appear in full on
your Invoice, and nor will they appear on your credit card
payment receipt. However, they will be held on our
computer for the requisite number of years to comply with tax
and VAT legislation. (Please see paragraph below regarding the
security of our
Computers) |
 |
Two advantages of holding your credit
card details on our computer are:
 |
firstly, our regular (and very
faithful) customers are pleased to enjoy the freedom of
'phoning through an order and being able to say "debit my
card", thus avoiding the hassle of repeating all those
numbers again or grappling with wallets whilst on location
in difficult conditions |
 |
it avoids the need for customers to
reading out the details when they may be in a crowded /
public situation when there would be a danger of being
overheard |
|
 |
Black Box Video utilises the credit
card authorisation and security system provided by Streamline; in
February 2006 it became a requirement that credit card purchases
made during your visit to us (not mail order) you MUST use your
PIN number to be sure you ca pay us with your "chipped" card. Information about Chip & Pin can be found
here
on the Streamline website. From the Streamline
website:
 |
" Chip & PIN
is a programme aimed at reducing fraud for those
transactions where the cardholder and card are present at
the time of the transaction.
" The Chip (silver or gold coloured square on the front left
side of the card) is embedded into a card to provide highly
secure memory and processing capabilities. In addition to
holding the same personal data as the magnetic stripe, the
chip provides additional security features to safeguard
against counterfeiting.
" The PIN is a four-digit number that the cardholder will
enter into the PIN pad instead of signing a card receipt.
From January 2005, liability for counterfeit card
transactions and lost and stolen card fraud, will pass to
the party that is not chip & PIN compliant. Where all
parties are compliant, then counterfeit transactions should
reduce significantly and there will be no recourse by the
cardholder saying they did not authorise the transaction. " |

about Fraud Screening, which you can find
here
on the Streamline website. |
 |
Should you request that your order be
sent to an address on location, to a production office, or hotel
or other address (ie: an address other than the one to which
your credit card is registered), you should note that this is
not strictly allowable by credit card companies. It can
therefore only be done if you give us particular instructions to
do so, and it should be noted that having already taken every
possible step to ensure the security of your credit card details
(as described above), Black Box Video cannot be responsible for
any fraud or other breach of security during the time the order
takes to reach you personally. |
 |
Please also note on our Terms &
Conditions page the issue of
posting
your order to an address
other than the one to which your credit card is registered. |
