Standard Aerials

Aerial with straight SMA connector (copyright Black Box Video)
Aerial with straight SMA connector
for the Transmitter

Aerial with R/A SMA connector (copyright Black Box Video)
Aerial with right-angled SMA connector
for the Receiver

The standard Aerials are omni-directional and radiate in all directions (and the right-angled aerial on the Video Sender Receiver also receives in all directions, so it does not need to be pointed at the Video Sender Transmitter)

They are 0dB Gain (ie, they produce no gain)

These Aerials attach to the units by a screw SMA connector

High Gain Aerials

For something truly superb, why not opt for one of the following High Gain Aerials?

  8dB Gain Box Aerial

8dB Gain Box Aerial (copyright Black Box Video)

If you want a tremendous improvement in the performance of your Video Sender for very little outlay, then choose the 8dB Gain Box Aerial for the Receiver end of your kit

This will double the range compared to the standard aerial, as well as improve reception indoors - in particular reducing picture break up caused by reflections from girders and pipes due to its directional pickup pattern

You can easily just velcro the Box Aerial to your bag (see the picture here as part of The Package), or find a suitable pole or erection to gain some extra height

Remember that as it is directional, for best results you must ensure the Box Aerial is  pointing towards the Transmitter with the curved surface facing forward, mounted vertically (not sideways or on its side);  make sure the Box Aerial can "see" the transmit aerial and is not blocked by metalwork or very dense structures.  Mounting it as high as possible will also help the Box Aerial to see over obstructions such as people passing between the Transmitter and the Receiver

Put another one on your Transmitter for completely phenomenal results!  If you do this, the two Box Aerials must be pointing at each other - this will give a very large improvement in both the distance covered and the reliability of signal

The 8dB Gain Box Aerials are manufactured by
Huber+Suhner

  Yagi 14dB High Gain Aerial

Our second "super aerial" is a Yagi giving 14dB of gain and the results are superb

The Yagi 14dB Gain Aerial is intended to be fixed on top of an OB van, or a handy nearby roof, to give you some really heavy welly

Because the Yagi is so directional (about 30 degrees) it needs to be pointed very accurately at the Transmitter

The Yagi is about a metre long and quite weighty, so not really meant for carrying around

Leads / Cables

To power the Video Sender Transmitter, you will need either:

a HRS4M - HRS4M  (priced at £35), or
a HRS4M - BP90 lead (priced at £23)..

You will also need two BNC - BNC leads:  one to feed video into the Transmitter from the camera, and one to feed video from the Receiver to your Monitor

To power the Video Sender Receiver, you will need:

a HRS4M - XLR4M lead (priced at £25), or
a HRS4M - HRS4M  (priced at £35).........

BNC - BNC
leads are priced at £15

You can choose between right-angled or straight BNCs, or a combination

Depending on your battery, we could also supply a

HRS4M - Anton Bauer Power Tap Plug
lead (priced at £45)

To attach the 8dB Gain Box Aerial to the Video Sender Receiver, you will need

an SMA - SMA lead (priced at £20)

If you need a different plug on the end of your HRS4M power lead, we can supply you with

a HRS4M - bare ends (priced at £20)

If you have chosen to use the Yagi Aerial you will need

an SMA - N Plug lead to attach it to your Video Sender Receiver -
minimum cable length is vital and we would recommend 1 metre, or 2 metres at the most, otherwise you lose all that you have gained with the longer aerial
.

This lead is included in the price of the Yagi shown above, but if you need to buy the SMA - N Plug lead separately, it is priced at £25

The Remote Switch is unique to Black Box Video - you won't see one elsewhere!  This is a single switch to activate or turn-off all the parts (both Monitor and Receiver) located at the bottom left corner of the carry bag and it saves you having to unzip the bag and grope for switches

The Remote Switch even contains an indicator which constantly shows your battery power level

This comes inclusive as a part of The Package, but you can buy this separately for £75

Micro Headphone Amplifier

Micro Headphone Amplifier (copyright Black Box Video)

This incredibly small Headphone Amplifier is designed to be used with The Package when the monitor does not support audio

The Amplifier does not require batteries as it is powered from the Video Sender down the audio cable - a standard stereo 3.5mm jack lead connects the two units

House in a robust yet lightweight die cast box (only 50mm square and 25mm deep, 89 grms) the Micro Headphone Amplifier sports a very high quality all-metal volume control and bright green LED.  There is plenty of volume and with very good quality

We need to make a small modification to your Video Sender Receiver to power the Amplifier, which is included in the price

Incredibly easy to use - just plug the supplied 3.5mm jack lead into the bottom socket of the unit and the other end into the jack socket on the Video Sender Receiver, then plug your headphones into the top socket next to the green LED and adjust the volume to the desired level
