Black Box Video's original Time Code Transmitter and Receiver system was designed to transmit time code from a camera to a recorder via a robust UHF link on 418 MHz or 433 MHz.  The system was DTI approved, and no licence was required

Sadly, this Time Code Transmitter and Receiver system has had to move on, due to increased congestion on 433 MHz, and the TETRA radio network making the 418 MHz frequency unusable due to interference.  You can read about this in more detail on our Time Code FAQs page, where we also hope we have answered any questions you may have about the sale of the original system, as well as repairs.

Please also make sure you visit our pages detailing the new system on 434 MHz - links are given to the right, as well as below

418 + 433 MHz Miniature Time Code Transmitter (copyright Black Box Video)

The UHF Miniature Time Code Transmitter was very small and light - only a little bigger than its own aerial - and mounted directly onto the camera's BNC time code out socket.  Its length, including its aerial, was only 800mm and its weight 100 grams

The Transmitter would be powered from the camera via a 4 pin Hirose plug, or you could use the PP3 Clip Adaptor supplied and power it directly from a PP3 Battery (or our PP3 Battery Box or our Dual PP3 Battery Box  .  The range would be approximately 100 metres

The 433 MHz version offered a higher power output (up to 300 metres range), lower battery consumption, and a built in power indicator

418 + 433 MHz Self Powered Time Code Transmitter (copyright Black Box Video)

The UHF Self Powered Time Code Transmitter is powered by a PP3 battery and can transmit time code from a source where 12 Volt power is not readily available.  It is essentially the same as the Miniature Time Code Transmitter, but without the need for a PP3 Clip Adapter

The quick change PP3 battery compartment has a built in battery power indicator.  The 418 MHz offered a battery life of around 15 hours

The 433 MHz version had a double battery life, variable mod level, super bright LED and a higher power (300 metres range)

418 + 433 MHz Miniature Time Code Receiver (copyright Black Box Video)

The UHF Miniature Time Code Receiver was specially designed to be used on cameras where light weight and small size were important.  It is powered from the 12 Volt socket on the camera via a 4 pin Hirose connector.  The standard BNC output socket is for time code

This Receiver is compatible with all Black Box Video's Time Code Transmitters on the same frequency, and is affordable for use on multi-camera shoots.  It has power and carrier detect LED's

The 433 MHz version is a more sensitive Receiver with super-bright LED's and lower power consumption.  You can expect a range of up to 300 metres

418 + 433 MHz Self Powered Time Code Receiver - the standard unit (copyright Black Box Video)

The standard UHF Time Code Receiver is small (30 x 120 x 60 mm) and has a long battery life of about 12 hours.  The quick change battery compartment takes a standard PP3

The Receiver offers a range of approximately 100 metres on 418 MHz, or up to 300 metres on 433 MHz

The two LED indicators show time code being received and battery OK.  On the 433 MHz version the LED's are super-bright and the battery life is doubled
